Cape Town has had some hot sunny days over the last 2 months and last week was a real scorcher as some places just outside of town were reporting the mercury hitting over 40C (104 Fahrenheit) – the week starting 17th January to the 21st saw a dip in temperature as a cold front with rough seas and some  very welcome rain slipped over the mother city.

Cape Town Heat Wave

But from Friday 21st the weather is set to get a lot warmer again as a heat wave warning has just been issued for Cape Town and the Western Cape! In Cape Town  we can expect  the following; Saturday 32C and Sunday 29C but both days with very light winds! And with next week not dropping below 26C it looks like the rest of January is set to be a real scorcher.

Western Cape Heatwave Warning

Whilst the weather in Cape Town does look to be a scorcher this weekend, we need to spare a thought for cities such as Barry Dale which is much further inland and away from the ocean, there they are looking at a Sunday temperature of 43C and almost zero wind!

Bettys Bay will be hitting 39C on Saturday and 37C on Sunday and with moderate SE winds on both days!

Last stop on quick tour of Western Cape heat wave hot spots is Worcester, which is about 75 miles (120KM) to the north east of Cape Town and slightly more centrally located in the Western Cape.

They have temperatures of

  • Friday 37C
  • Saturday 41C
  • Sunday 42C
  • Monday 37C

So in order to beat the heat this weekend there are plenty of activities to do in Cape Town Surfing : Visit a tidal pool : Head to the beach : Visit Boulders Beach

Just remember to take plenty of sun screen and water with you whilst out and about in the mother city!
